Text on instruction sheet:
“The Airbus A380 will be not only the largest and most advanced passenger aircraft that has ever been built, it will also be the first airliner in the world with two passenger decks running right through. The A380 was designed in close collaboration with the airlines and airports and a number of suppliers and partners in the industry, making it a market-orientated product that fits into the exiting infrastructure. The A380 family consists of two basic aircraft, a passenger version with a capacity of 555 passengers in three classes (maximum 840) and a maximum range of 14,800km / 8,000nm, and a freighter version with a payload of 150 tonnes and a range of 10,400km / 5,600nm.
Despite
its increased range and passenger capacity, it has been possible to reduce fuel
consumption and pollutant emissions. The flagship of the 21st century
is characterized by numerous innovations: a complete newly developed passenger
cabin, new or improved materials (including GLARE – aluminum/fiberglass
composite). The vertical tail area, rudder and elevator are made of CFRP –
carbon fiber reinforced plastic. In addition it will have a new flight control
system. The A380 has a low-noise engines with reduced fuel consumption and low
emissions, such as the Trent 900 or GP 7200 with a thrust of 311kN / 70,000 lbst.
The cockpit instruments and flight control system have similar fly-by-wire
technology to the other Airbuses. The first A380s should go into service with
the airlines in 2006. The main components such as fuselage sections, wings,
vertical tail unit, rudder unit, will be made at production facilities in
France, Germany, Spain and Great Britain. After final assembly in Toulouse, the
aircraft will fly to Hamburg where it will receive all it’s internal
fittings.”
