| Siam Scale is a decal company based in in the Far East and their decals focus mostly on Air Forces of the Far East, but they also do decals for aircraft of other Air Forces....such as Israel. This 1/72 decal sheet focuses on ten different Ch-47D's of the Royal Thai Air Force. There are enough stencils included to build 1 of the 10 chinooks featured on this decal sheet. For those of you that don't know the meaning of the word Chinook.......it is a First Nations word meaning "Warm Wind". Anyhow...on to the review. I believe this word has it's origins with the Canadian First Nations people. | ||
| Basically what
you have here are 2 different paint schemes, but enough different serial
numbers for 10 different aircraft. So you can build one of 10
different Chinooks in either of the two schemes you see to the right.
My favourite scheme has the be the jungle scheme at the top of the image to the right. Siam scale has provided 4 views of this scheme (top, bottom left and right), so you are not having to guess about painting this scheme. |

The second paint scheme is a plainer one colour overall, but still interesting for modellers wanting to add a regular scheme Royal Thai Airforce Chinook to their model collection. The decals are clearly printed. They are a bit thicker than most decals, but they aren't overly thick and should settle down just fine....I don't see this as a problem. The colour of the decals looks very good and the detail on stripes is very clear. Because these decals are from the Far East....the instruction sheet refers to one of the Far Eastern Brand of paints. This shouldn't be much of an issue, but you will have to dig up a conversion chart of some sort to figure out the paint colours if your local hobby shop doesn't stock this brand of paint. |
