This decal sheet has roots
deep into the history of WW2.
Featured on this decal
sheet are 4 different F-15E's with nose art. Most of the art for
the 336th FS was paint by Captain Randall "Hacker" Haskin.
The first Mudhen is the
Shangri-La II. The original Shangri-La was a P-51 flown by USAF
Ace Don Gentile. The new version features a more muscular black
bird in boxing gloves holding onto Saddam and preparing to punch.
The second aircraft is
"Back for More Mad Duck IV". This jet features Donald
Duck sitting flying a smart bomb with reins.
The third jet is one that is
sure to stir the historical thoughts. This is the Memphis Belle
III plane. As you know the Memphis Belle was one of the most
famous B-17;s from WW2......the nose Art was later featured on a F-105
during Vietnam. Now the same nose art is featured on an F-15E.
The nose art looks to me (from memory to be very much the same as the
artwork that adorned the Memphis Belle B-17.
The fourth plane is
Dragon Betty. This is huge nose art of a dragon.....a very
colourful dragon I might add. You get enough stencils to make one
of the jets featured on this sheet. The Two Bob's also wanted to
expressed their deep thanks to Captain Randall "Hacker"
Haskin, SSgt Jason Henton, Wade Meyers and Steve Davis.
