This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for two different 1/48 B-24 Liberators.

The first aircraft is a B-24J-120-CO Liberator serial number 42-109951with the 11th BG/98th BS called "Madame Pele".  This aircraft was reportedly paid for by children in Hawaii and features a naked Hawaiian Goddess Pele emerging from a  volcano.  I'm sure the kids that paid for this B-24 were not consulted about the very sexy noseart painted on this bomber.  The paint scheme for this aircraft is overall Olive Drab with what appears to be neutral grey on the underside.  The deicer boots were badly worn on this aircraft.  The nose art appears on the right side of the nose and is a beautiful nude red head emerging from an activer Volcano with orange text reading "Madame Pele".  The artwork for this aircraft has a white decal to go underneath the noseart decal.

The second plane is B-24H-10-DT Liberator serial number 42-28746 with the 466th BG/785th BS called "Jamaica ?".  The paint scheme for this aircraft is overall Olive Drab with what appears to be neutral grey on the underside.  The deicer boots are not on the wings and are black on the tails.  The nose art appears on the right side of the nose as a beautiful brunette which was a date of one of the members of the crew.  On the left side is nose art of a topless brunette in panties in the midst of just taking off her red skirt with white text beside the nose art that reads "Jamaica ?".  The artwork for both sides of this aircraft have white decals to go underneath the noseart decal.  This is a Ford built B-24, so the noise shape is different from the Monogram kit......but Cutting Edge makes a set (product # CEC48444) which contains the correct nose.

The noseart decals are delicate and two are included for each plane in case you mess up the first ones.  Exacting instructions are included on how to prepare and install these decals…..read these instructions carefully to avoid disaster.  Apparently these noseart decals are very thin and need special care, but once installed they will look very accurate and realistic.  The nose art decals are printed on a one piece decal sheet, so you’ll need to cut the decal free from the rest of the decal film…..patience is the key here.  The noseart decal is beautifully printed with fantastic detail and lovely shading.

The instructions are clear and include  views of each aircraft and an extra 3 pages of text instructions and one of line drawing showing decal placement is included with a small bit of info about both the planes as well as helpful tips for decal application.

A very nice decal sheet and  sure to please the lucky 300 people that manage to buy one of these limited edition sheets.

I would like to thank Cutting Edge Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
