"Random Thoughts"  Magazine is put out by IPMS Canada (International Plastic Modellers Society of Canada) and is sent to all IPMS Canada members.  "Random Thoughts"  is a bimonthly magazine, in English, containing 24 pages of photos, drawings, kit reviews, model conversion articles, hints n' tips, wants and disposals, and other items of interest. All content is provided by the members, for the members. As an added membership bonus, every now and then we send out a free special project item with your magazine.  This particular issue came out in Dec 2005 and is has the typically pleasing variety of articles.

This particular issue features part one of a full build article by Vic Scheuerman building the Canadair Tutor using the 1/48 Hobbycraft kit.  Vic detailed all areas of the cockpit and the exterior of his Tutor with plenty of finely done scratchbuilding.  Vic pre-shaded his Tutor and finished it off in Malaysian markings.
For airliner modellers, Andrew Forster has his article explaining his process for building his sharp looking 1/144 Olympic Airlines YS-11 from Hasegawa.  Of interesting is that this was a Japanese built airliner from 1962 and was flown by Transair in Canada.  Andrew finished his airliner in baremetal, white and blue colours with rainbow coloured Olympic rings on the sides of the tail.
For the armour modellers, Dana J. Neld has a photo rich article telling about the Leopard battle tank used by the Canadian Army.  This tank was bought from the Germans and used in Europe by the Canadians in Germany to fufill their NATO commitments against the Soviet possibility of the invasion of Western Europe.  Dana shows a variety of hull configurations used by Canadians on the Leopards.
This issue also includes 3 book reviews by Sid arnold of the:
  • "Fleet of Whales" Douglas A-3 Skywarrior Part 2
  • North American A-5A / Ra-5C Vigilante
  • North American F-86H Sabre "Hog"

All three of these books are published by Steve Ginter.

Another enjoyable issue full of variety.
