| Here's a review
of a new 1/48 sheet from Afterburner Decals, Alaskan Strike Eagles from
Elemendorf AFB, Alaska.
The decals are sized for the Revell F-15E kit, and markings for 8 jets are included:
The decals are in-register, clear and are beautifully printed. Most of the tail markings and badges are 2 piece decals, ensuring good registry. Large unit decals are provided to be used on intake covers as well. A small sheet is included that has the blue state of Alaska decal. |

The color
instruction sheet has 4-view drawings to assist in decal placement, and
numerous modeler notes point out tips on specific decals. Extensive
weapons notes and stencil markings are illustrated. With the weapons'
stations, there is a typo on the far right end of each table in regards to
Station 8. The missiles' stations, 8A and
8B are incorrectly labeled as 2A and 2B. Also, on the diagram for station
8, rails A and B are reversed.
With the provided black "AK" tail codes and stencils, you can make 2 complete jets from this sheet. I personally would like to have seen at least a 3rd set of black "AK" codes provided as to take better advantage of the tail bands and serials. Stencils could easily be used from the kit.
