This is our 20th 1/48 sheet! It covers the F-16CGs from the 86th FW at Ramstein AB , Germany during 1994. This was the last year that F-16s were based at Ramstein, and during the 526th FS deployment to Aviano AB, Italy during the early months of 1994 for Operation Deny Flight over Bosnia that 2 of its pilots shot down 4 Serbian J-21 Jastrebs violating the no-fly zone over Banja Luka. The markings on this sheet cover the 526th FS COs jet from the Deny Flight period, both Jastreb killers at the time of the 4 kill engagement, the 3 kill jet of Capt. Robert “Wilbur” Wright is also portrayed later in the spring wearing a different tail flash, but sporting 3 kill markings.

This was a much requested sheet and the research involved tracking down the crew chiefs for the 526th FS COs jet, the 3 kill jet 89-2137 and the 512th FS COs jet.

There has been some contention as to exactly what markings the jets were wearing during the engagement, but that was solved with period photographs and first hand accounts. Stencils for 2 aircraft, along with loadout charts for the Jastreb kill mission and modeling notes on how to modify the Tamiya block 50 kit to the block 40 needed for these markings. Markings are sized for Tamiya.
