Decal sheet product # 32-007

Review by Steve Bamford on July 16 2009

This latest release from Lifelike Decals decal sheet features two different P-47D's.  This is Part 2 of  a series dealing with the P-47D Thunderbolt Best selection.  These markings have been previously offered in other scales by different scale by Lifelike Decals and it is good to see 1/32 modellers getting a chance to add these 2 great looking P-47's to their display case.

  • The first plane is a P-47D-30-RA bubbletop, serial #44-33250 flown by Lt. Earl Kielgass of 396 FS, 368 FG from Chievres/Belgium in November 1944.  This aircraft has noseart of an Arozona desert scene with the text "Arizona Loraine".  This plane is overall silver with a yellow nose and as well as the top of the rear fuselage and the top of the tail.  The yellow paint on the nose extend back to a yellow lighting bolt on the side of the fuselage.  Black code letters/numbers on the rear fuselage are "C2 L".

  • The second plane is a P-47D-30 flown by Capt. Lowell Brueland with the 355th FS/354FG, Rosieres-en-Haye, France in December 1944.  The paint scheme is a bare metal finish with quite the selection of artwork.  The engine cowling is light blue with white diamond check pattern and a cartoon bomb and the text "Wee Speck".  The white diamonds are included as a decal to make installation simple.  This plane has 14 1/2 kills markings from the European theatre.  The anti glare panel in front on the windscreen is olive drab.  Code letters on the side of the fuselage are GQ U.

The quality of these decals is of very good quality.  The decals themselves are clearly printed and in perfect register.  Some decals come in 2 layers to ensure perfect registration.

Many pilots became Aces at the controls of the P-47 and it is a plane that was adorned many times with noseart.  It is good to see these 2 planes offered in 1/32 scale.

I would like to thank Lifelike Decals for providing me with this review sample.
