But it's not just a picture book.......there is plenty of text telling the story of "The Sluf in USAF and USANG Service" from 1968 to 1993.  The text covers the A-7 history  well without being bogged down in too much detail.

But let's have a look inside and see what it does offer you.  The inside front cover lists the LTV A-7D Corsair II losses and attritions, some of which occurred during the Vietnam War.  The introduction is in English and German (as are the photos descriptions) and covers the A-7 from it's introduction with the USN to replace the A-4 and later adopted by the USAF due to an earlier demand by US Secretary of Defence Robert MacNamara that the USAF and USN to standardize their aircraft types.  The first flight of the YA-7A was on Sept 27 1965 and 2 years later the A-7 was flying combat missions in Vietnam.  The various A-7 versions are covered plane by plane.  The ANG eventually acquired the A-7 and that is also covered in the book, but first the story of the Corsair II in USAF service is told before the story moves on to the ANG Units.  The A-7 successfully took on seemingly impossible tasks such as replacing the A-1 Skyraider by protecting the rescue helicopters as they retrieved down pilots.

I enjoyed this book.  It is loaded with photos and it tells the history and story of the A-7 very well.  Also included are photos of some of the noseart that adorned the A-7 throughout the years.  The walkaround photos include much desired cockpit and avionics bay photos that will be much appreciated by all modellers that buy this book.
