United States Navy Aviation Centennial 1911-2011
By Chris Banyai-Riepl

The United States Navy is celebrating its 100th anniversary of naval aviation this year, and to commemorate that event, they have painted an entire fleet of Centennial aircraft. Over two dozen special ‘retro’ color schemes have been applied to a wide range of aircraft, documenting both specific historical aircraft and general period camouflage and markings. Many of these retro aircraft were revealed to the public at the Centennial of Naval Aviation Kick Off Air Show at NAS North Island on February 12, 2011, in addition to several other specially marked aircraft.

This book showcases those aircraft, along with the impressive Parade of Flight that saw a continuous fly-by of well over 150 aircraft and culminated in an impressive Air Wing formation flyover by the aircraft of CVW-9. This book has over 200 color photographs covering nearly three dozen different aircraft types, including subjects from the Navy, Marine Corps, and Coast Guard.

The book is available from the Alga Publishing online store:
