Drill Bits and a Pin Vise

By Steve Bamford

--------------------------------

This is my very well used drill bit set with my Pin Vise further below.  This is pretty straight forward, but I felt this is another basic tool that saves time and grief.  These drill bits are pretty tiny and they do break....especially the tiniest one size #80 (I buy a few of the #80's at a time because they break that often.

The broken drill bits are missing from this set.....but replacement drill bits can be bought from most hobby shops or from a decent online hobby retailer.

My one complaint about my Pin Vise is it doesn't close up enough to hold the tiniest drill bit (size #80).  So, I must resort to using a drill chuck in my pin vise when I use the #80 drill bit.  My friend has a better quality Pin Vise and his will easily hold a #80 drill bit without resorting too using a drill chuck in his Pin Vise.  It seems not all Pin Vises are created equally.

This is the Pin Vise.....mine has a middle section that flips around to either hold tiny drill bits directly or to hold the drill chuck from my Dremel Mini-Mite.
