--------------------
Here's something that might be
useful to modellers who need to transport their works of art.
A. 1/2X9X12 inch foam (2
required)
B. 3X3X91/4 inch foam block
(2 required)
C 11/2X61/2X3 foam
These dimensions are for this
particular installation
Mailing cartons obtained from
office supply store (Staples) should have sufficiet space so that the model
has at least 1 inch clearance in all directions.
The foam is obtained from an
upholstery shop and is very inexpensive...these pieces were cut free of charge
from scrap.
Instructions: Place
1/2 inch foam (A) in bottom of carton
Mark (B) for slots for the wing tips so that the wheels are clear of (A) and
cut slots with knife
Cut a slot in (C) for the fuselage for a tight fit
Slip model into slot in (C)
Slip wing tips into slots in (B)
Place in carton and add 1/2 foam on top.
Seal carton.
We tried this out by actually
throwing the package around (Canada Post destruct test) and the model did not
move and did not suffer any damage. The wing tip openings in the foam
will vary with type of tip (tanks, weapons) but it is quick and simple.
