For the Rescue group build. A Revell Monogram 1/48 scale Canso (PBY).  These planes were used in a Search and Rescue in addition to cargo capacity for the Canadian air force from after the war to the very early 1960's when the fleet was replaced by the Grumman Albatross. The airframe I chose (11067) is one of the few that had the war time nose as provided  out of the box in the Monogram kit. Other wise a resin replacement is required to do the other 90% or so of the fleet. I am limiting my money spent on the hobby to what's all ready in the stash so out of the box it was.

The kit is an extreme tail sitter. In the kit behind the cockpit and forward of the main gear is crammed two empty model master paint jars. I thought that would have been enough but it was not. So the nose was stuffed with a entire bag of fishing weights. Still that was cutting it close. While taking photos a light wing was enough to knock the model on its tail.

No one has ever done Canadian decals for the Canso so I used spares that I have from several Leading Edge sheets.
