This was built for the ARC
Centennial of Naval Aviation group build. It began life as a 1/48 Hasegawa F-18F
super Hornet. To that you add a Steel Beach F-18G Growler update set (without
pods). Then the required pods. In this case spare Monogram EA-6B pods. If you
build two Prowlers like I have carrying HARM missiles you end up with extra pods
collecting dust for several years.
Next you need decals. Fightertown
decals for VAQ-141. Which is right now assigned to the new carrier "USS
Daddy Bush". Of course the only CVW I ever build (8) just happens to be
assigned to this ship at the moment.

More add on's are the Steel
Beach intake covers and then the phantoms kitchen cupboard exhaust covers.
They are simply tin foil cut to shape and painted black.
In the class photo is each of the
super Hornet CAGS from CVW-8. VFA-31 with the E, VFA-213 with the F and of
course VAQ-141 with the G.
