A Classic Kit from Monogram. "Humpin Honey" was built "Out of the Box". Heaps of detail both inside and out. The Interior was preshaded Model Masters Flat Black then Airbrushed using Model Masters Interior Green. A wash was then added. The Interior was also lightly dry brushed with Model Masters Aluminium Plate Buffing Metalizer to highlight areas of wear.

The Exterior of "Humpin Honey" was completely dry brushed by hand using Model Masters Aluminium Plate Buffing Metalizer. A coat of Model Masters Metalizer Sealer was then applied. Testors Clear gloss coat was airbrushed over the entire model. The Kit Decals then applied and another coat of gloss to seal the decals in. The Yellow parts were painted using Model Masters Insignia Yellow. The Decals and Yellow Parts were given a light coat of Flat Clear to dull them down. Some Pastels applied for exhaust staining.

A lot of Lead weight was added into the nose section, forward turrets and engine nacelles to aid in balancing the model. (It is very tail heavy). The Kit undercarriage is very strong. So I was happy to stick with it.

"Humpin Honey" a B-29-5-BW Superfortress delivered on the 11th of January in 1944, Serial No 42-6299. "Humpin Honey" was destroyed on a mission on the 7th of December 1944, being rammed in flight by an Japanese Nakajima Ki44 "Tojo" Fighter. Only 2 crew members survived.
