This is the 32nd scale Academy F-18D and what a great kit this was to build. My build includes decals for the VMFA-225 Vikings who were based out at Miramar, Ca. The Vikings fly close air support, Air interdiction and Aerial reconnaissance missions. I used the kit decals and they went on great! Go figure, decals are printed by Cartograph so, you know they are good! I put a resin seat in it made by Legend, and then I used the resin chaff/flare kit which includes photo-etch and the GPS module made by Four-Dable. I used the Rhino-models exhaust for the burner cans (which you can find his stuff on Ebay). I put this together prior to Rhino's intakes which are absolutely gorgeous, and fit nicely too! For the painting I used Mr. Color paints, and then gave it a wash for the panel lines using Mig wash. The rest of the weathering was done with Mig pigment powders for fluid leaks, normal wear and tear, etc.. Those are some great products for this kit that don't cost an arm and leg to get, but will make your model look absolutely great!

If you have the chance to build this kit, I recommend building this up in your favorite squadron! It is well worth the money for the detail that comes in the kit, and some extras to spruce it up even more make it a great kit!

Thanks for looking at my stuff! You can see this and more of my models and our other members on our club website (www.rfsm.net) also known as the Red Flag Scale Modelers or visit us on our Facebook page as well.
