This is a two-seat combat trainer derived from the MiG-25P featuring an additional fore cockpit to seat the instructor. The fuselage's fore section up to frame 1 was radically reconfigured. Introduction of the second cockpit ended up in removal of the radar followed by the removal of R-40R radar homing air-to-air missiles from the weapons suite while the R-40T heatseeker AAMs were retained. The plane was developed under the resolution of the commission of the USSR Council of Ministers of 7 July, 1965.

I decided to build this version after searching everywhere for a MiG 25PU in 1:48 scale. After some time I located a MiG 25P kit for sale that had been started and came with an extra NEOMEGA C62 MiG-25 cockpit kit. With that in hand I used some spare parts to build the fore cockpit and fuselage.

The rest of the kit is put together using the original parts. I sanded the raised panel lines and scribed new panel lines. The paint is of my own making and the decals are the original set. The second canopy I removed from a Revell MiG 25 kit I had built some years back. The kit turned out nicely. Too bad Revell discontinued the model.
