Main impetus for this diorama was using up some Pegasus French infantry I had left over from another project. These are excellent by the way: quite hard plastic, separate weapons, and multiple poses.

The Easy Assembly D520 is OK too. I cut off the rudder and wing flaps for displacement, and sawed the canopy open. Otherwise it was an easy build. The escaping pilot figure is actually Preiser Luftwaffe but who would know? Smoke is dyed cotton wool.

Main achievement for me here was scratchbuilding a second farm cart using US Civil War cannon wheels. It turned out slightly better than my first - a reasonable result.

Everything was brush-painted with Tamiya acrylics, washed and drybrushed with artists' tubed acrylics. Base is scrap, dirt is dirt.

The idea, in case you don't get it, is that the plane was shot down near the front line, crashlanded near some French troops and they supplied covering fire while the pilot escaped his burning wreck. Battle of France, spring, 1940.
