Hello!!! I’m happy to present my first aircraft model for ARC.  The kit is introduced with of the beautiful ones you print made of plastic light grey.  The assembly turned out to be simple and pain free like all the Hasegawa kits!

The decals allow you to build one of two models:

  • AU-1 of the AES-12 (12 aircraft engineering sqn.) in MCAS Quantico.

  • AU-1 of the VMA-212 in Korea.

I have chosen the first version, with a paint colours GREY FS16440 and WHITE FS17875.

The AU-1 was developed after the outbreak of the Korean War in response to urgent U. S. Marine Corps (USMC) need for an aircraft to provide effective close air support for its ground forces.

The design was referred to as the F4U-6 originally (developed, as it was, from the F4U Corsair), with the designation later changed to AU-1.

After application of the decals, washing with varoius colors, I glued all exteriors pieces: landing gear, canopy, tanks and antenna cable; for it I use fishing line.
