The
aircraft, tail number 45 is unique in downing the only Lebanese kill for the IAF.
The Lebanese kill was a Hawker Hunter downed over Lebanon during June 1967 Six
Day War. The two Iraqi kills were scored a day after the Lebanese kill when
escorting a Vautour bomber raid on the Iraqi air base of H3. The Iraqi kills
were a Hunter and a MiG-21F-13. During peace talks with Jordan it was learned
that the Iraqi Hunter was actually flown by Jordanian pilot who defected to Iraq
in order to avoid the Israeli raids.
A
detailed step by step on how to build and paint the Eduard's Mirage IIICJ
appears in the December issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling. A full account of the
kills is featured in the February issue of Scale Aircraft Modelling.

The
Mirage downing Hunter photo montage was made by my friend Ed Okun. The Iraqi
Hunter was build by Ed Okun in 1/32 from the Revell kit. The markings for
this beautiful bird are from IsraDecal sheet IAF-33. I'm pleased to report
my Mirage won 1st place award - IPMS Israel 04 Oct 2004.
