  Canada Day 2006

Today, for your viewing pleasure, some Canadian anti-submarine hunters. 1/72 scale Hasegawa Aurora. Also known as P-3 Orions. Both were built for the heavies group build. I found the stand for the current paint job one at a hobby store outside of NAS Pensacola. The older style paint job Aurora came from Tony Hayes. One of the BEST traders on all of ARC.

Back to the grey one 140106. Completely OOB, apart from the decals. Which are from CanMilAir decals. Very nice Alps printed decals. Also the only CP-140 decals that come in the correct shades of grey. The decals in the Hasegawa box are completely wrong. At least for a change the maple leafs look correct but the colour is still wrong. You have to go aftermarket.

Arrow Graphics did them, but those decals are near 20 years old and next to impossible to find. CanMilAir is the place to go. They sell by internet , check them out for your next Canadian model.

The Colourful one is directly from Tony Hayes.  It is the original release from Hasegawa Minicraft. It's missing some of the parts you need to make the Orion into an Aurora. Thanks to Aus747 (Ray Seppale), he provided me with the proper intakes that come with the latter kits. The decals for the delivery scheme come in the box. But are best as I guide. Hasegawa seems to have problems with Maple leafs. I used Leading edge decals for the national markings to fix the wonky Hasegawa leafs.

Takes up a bit of room these two kits..

The last photos....Hasegawa P-2. The Canadian version. The decals (again) supplied by Hasegawa are completely wrong. I used old ones from the scrap box and a Leading edge pre-1965 style Canadian flag. I added a 1/72 Hasegawa tracker so Brian can remind me to get a swifter. The last photo shows how these guys are now displayed. Complete with the wonderful wall paper my mother-in-law put up when my hobby room was her bed room.
