As much as I enjoy
getting stuck into more detailed kits, I appreciate the simplicity of the old
Matchbox kits and often find that they afford me a chance to 'practice' with
certain things - without fear of making the kit look too awful. This kit is such
an example, where I had been wanting to practice bare metal finishes and to
experiment with riveting detail.
It's all a bit
rough-and-ready I appreciate, but it has at least given me some confidence to
tackle some bigger, more expensive builds that I didn't want to start until I'd
had the practice this gave me. For anyone that's interested, the riveting was
achieved by dipping the end of a wooden cocktail stick in humbrol enamel (dark
grey), waiting for it to partially dry for a few seconds - and then pressing it
against the panel lines at (admittedly slightly irregular) intervals.
