Here’s
my 1/48 scale Hasegawa Grumman F-14B Tomcat. I had this completed about a year
ago and its been languishing in my display case until the acquisition of a new
camera gave me the incentive to have it photographed. The amateur photography
was done with a Panasonic Lumix DMC FZ7 in broad daylight with the photographs
doctored somewhat in photoshop.

For
anyone wanting to build a 1/48 scale Tomcat, you can’t beat the excellent
Hasegawa kit. While the kit is showing its age; the combination of excellent
shape, wings posable both swept and forward with full flaps; makes it unbeatable
in my opinion. I included a blackbox cockpit and a pair of beautiful GE burner
cans from Shawn Hull. Other than that, the kit was built pretty much straight
out of the box.
The
model was painted with Gunze Sangyo paints and weathered and streaked with an
oil wash. The markings are from the old Twobobs sheet sponsoring ARC. Steve, you
can probably remember this! The only change I made was the custom bomb markings
just beneath the front screen on the port side. While the twobobs sheet was
totally accurate, I couldn’t resist adding the mission marks that seem to have
appeared further down the road in that particular guise. As you might guess, I
like mission markings VERY much.
Hope
you enjoy the photos.
Sam
