IsraDecals Ra'anan Weiss has
delivered on his promise to provide 1/72 scale IAF enthusiasts a brand new
Mirage IIIc sheet. The last time IAF Mirage markings were offered in 1/72
scale was well over 20 years ago by the legendary Micro
Scale decals.
To say that the 20 year
wait was worth it is stretching it a bit, but during this time decal
manufacture technology has evolved in our favor. Cartograf's printing
technology has enabled perfect color reproduction, decal registration,
opacity and resolution. Resolution that enables the modeler to see perfect
diagonal lines in the yellow and black undersurface access panels, the
cross hairs lined up with the target aircraft making up the First Jet
Squadron's insignia, and even the white rescue instructions atop the red
aft canopy trim. Ra'anan has provided all the markings one can desire to
do any single or twin seat Israeli Air Force Mirage serving in the IAF
between 1962 and 1982.
From
this single sheet, the modeler can do three complete aircraft; in natural
metal, four colors or ghost gray markings. For the first time ever, 1973
Yom-Kippur War identification triangles are provided for the 1/72 scale
modeler in the correct FS 33538 Insignia Yellow and Black trim. The decal
sheet is sized to fit both AML and PJ's Mirage IIIc kits, and with little
effort can be applied to Heller, Hi Plane and Revell/Matchbox Mirages as
well.
To
aid in painting, decal location and arming Israeli Mirages, a 16 page
black and white booklet is provided. The booklet features 29 photos and 19
line drawings keyed to federal standard colors showing complete painting
and marking application information. All I can say is AML, please follow
up with your announcements and do release the Mirage IIIB and Recon Mirage
you announced a while back. Decal courtesy of IsraDecal's Ra'anan Weiss.
