This new decal sheet from Cutting Edge Modelworks includes markings for 3 different B-17's.

The first aircraft is a B-17G-1-BO "Stingy" flown by Lt. Nicholas Jorgenson with the 338 BS, 96 BG from Snetterton Heath in early 1944.  The paint scheme is Olive Drab on top and neutral Gray on the underside.  This plane was lost in a mid-air training mission on Oct 11 1944.  This aircraft has nose art of a young cartoon fellow standing on a cloud with a orange lightning bolt behind him holding a bomb under each arm.  Beside this artwork is the text "Stingy".  This aircraft has many 25 mission markings.  Code letters on the side of the rear fuselage is "BX W".

The second aircraft is a B-17F-60-DL "Carolina Boomerang" flown by Lt. Jack Horton with the 338 BS, 96 BG.  This aircraft was shot down during the Schweinfurt raid on Oct 14 1943.  The paint scheme is Olive Drab on top and neutral Gray on the underside.

This aircraft has nose art of black and white text "Carolina Boomerang" with a black boomerang with smaller text above that reading "Big Ed".  Code letters on the side of the rear fuselage is "BX U".

The third aircraft is a B-17G-35-BO "Mary Alice" flown by Lt. Dan Knight from Deenethorpe, England in late 1944.  The paint scheme is Olive Drab on top and neutral Gray on the underside.  This aircraft has nose art text reading "Mary Alice", which is the name of the pilots mother.  This aircraft eventually flew 98 missions with many crews and is thought to be the B-17 to suffer the most repairable damage of any B-17 in the 8th AF and was eventually scrapped.  The B-17 in the Duxford museum is a B-17 painted up to represent this aircraft and the markings do not match the markings on this decal sheet....this decal sheet portrays this aircraft as it appeared during WW2.  Yellow code letters on the side of the rear fuselage is "IY G".

The instructions are clear and include colour drawings to assist in decal placement.  There is also 2 pages of text including information about all of the aircraft.

A very nice decal sheet and will be helpful for anyone building a 1/48 B-17.
