Here's a quick review of one of
the older, yet still relevant items in the Cutting
Edge line. This particular item is a pair of M-60 mahcine guns
designed for the H-60 Blackhawk series of helicopters. You'll note that
these are the M-60D variant with the spade grips, and that this particular kit
is exclusively for the Blackhawk.
WHAT YOU GET:
In tis particular set, you get
the requisite parts to build two M-60 machine guns, along with flex mounts to
install them on a 1/48 Blackhawk helicopter. To my knowledge, this may
very well be one of the last sets in the Cutting Edge line to be cast in white
metal. You get two mahine guns, two flex mounts, two brass catcher bags,
and two ammo boxes.
As you can see from the photos,
the barrels on the machine guns are a little bent. However, if you look at
the third photo below, you'll see that this is a very easy fix. I had mine
straightened out in less than a minute. Actually, casting this particular
set in white metal was a smart move. I'd rather spend a few minutes
straightening out a part than gluing a resin part back together. Also,
you're probably going to want to drill out the spade grips and clean them up a
bit with a file. While you're at it, you'll also want to clean up the
small amount of flash that you'll encounter on the barrel between the receiver
and the bipod. These minor factors aside, this is a great set, and will go
a long way toward adding detail to your next Blackhawk model. I should
also mention that the weapons can be displayed in either the deployed or stowed
positions - it's left up to you to decide how you'd like to display them.
I'd like to thank
Cutting Edge Modelworks for
providing me with this review sample.
