The Revell-Monogram F/A-18C
Hornet is still a very viable alternative to the Hasegawa kit for many modelers,
and at less than half the price, it's an economical alternative as well.
Of course, it will require a little extra TLC in certain areas, but the bottom
line is that by re-scribing the model and adding a few extra details, you can
produce a real show-stopper from the kit. Now, Cutting Edge has made the
job of superdetailing the kit even easier by providing a set of flaps and slats
for the kit.
WHAT YOU GET:
The set provides you with direct replacements for the kits flaps and slats, with
eight parts in total. Quality of the parts is up to the usual Cutting Edge
standards, and the parts are cast in the usual gray resin. My set arrived
completely intact, with all parts perfectly formed....nothing broken, and no
casting imperfections. In addition, a very small instruction sheet is
provided, indicating where the kit's flaps and slats need to be removed from the
model. Remember, as the kit's instructions indicate, measure twice, and
cut once. It's better to leave a little too much plastic and trim it later
than it is to have to build it back up with sheet styrene, so make your
measurements and cuts carefully. All in all, a welcome addition to the stash,
and this set will go a long way toward superdetailing your R/M Hornet. I'd
like to thank Cutting Edge
Modelworks for providing me with this review sample.
