This new decal sheet from Stormo Decals includes markings for six different 1/48 Italian fighters from WW2 in a good variety of paint schemes and all with some sort of artwork.

This decal sheet is designed to be used in conjunction with kit decals.

The 6 aircraft include 3 different types of aircraft in 6 different paint schemes.

  • Macchi C.202 (MM.7742) flown by Tenente Emanuele Annoni, 96a Squadriglia, 9o Gruppo, 4o Stormo CT, Comiso on the 14 of October 1941.  This pilot is credit with 9 individual victories.  Classic poached egg camo with a yellow nose and spinner.

  • Macchi C.202 (MM.8081) flown by Capitano Mario Pinna CO, 75a Squadriglia, 23o Gruppo, 3o Stormo CT, Abu Haggag in Egypt in September of 1942.  This pilot is credit with 5 individual victories and 4 shared victories.  Green and brown "branch-style" mottle camo with a white spinner.

  • Macchi C.202 (MM.8088?) flown by Tenente Giorgio Solaroli, Marchese di Briona, 74a Squadriglia, 23o Gruppo, 3o Stormo CT, Abu Haggag in Egypt in August of 1942.  This pilot is credit with 11 individual victories and 5 shared victories.  Overall brown with small green mottle camo with a white spinner.

  • Macchi C.202 (MM.7823) flown by Tenente Giulio Reiner CO, 73a Squadriglia, 9o Gruppo, 4o Stormo CT, Fuka in Egypt in July of 1942.  This pilot is credit with 10 individual victories and 57 shared victories.  Overall green with small brown mottle camo with a white spinner.

  • Fiat G.55 Serie I (MM.91077) flown by Tenente Ugo Drago, 1a Squadriglia, 2o Gruppo CT, Cascina Vaga in May 1944.  This pilot is credited with 17 individual and 3 shared victories.  Overall tan with large areas of brown and green and a yellow panel under the engine.

  • Reggiane RE.2005 (MM.494) flown by Maggiore Vittorio Minguzzi, 362a Squadriglia, 22o Gruppo CT, Sigonella, Italy in July 1942, credited with 15 individual + 11 shared victories.  This was a prototype aircraft with an extra rib on the top side of the canopy.

The 2 pages of instructions are clear and include 1 colour view of each aircraft.  The decals are beautifully printed on 1 decal sheet by Cartograf.  I'm impressed by the wide variety of paint schemes on these 6 fighters....all flown by Aces.  Italian camo during WW2 is some of the most interesting there was and this sheets feature an excellent variety of paint schemes that is sure to be of big interest to anyone wanting to build a WW2 Italian fighter.
