With the new Bf-109 kits just
out you will need some markings for them. Lifelike
Decals has just what you need with their
latest release with markings for the Emil, Friedrich and Gustav.
Typical of all Lifelike decals
you are treated to full color instructions on two 8x10 single sided pages.
One with the side profiles and the upper camouflage colors and the other
with the side profiles and the research that goes with each aircraft.
There is a separate sheet that contains the stencils for all three
versions represented on the sheet.
The decals themselves are
perfectly printed in register and have good color saturation.
They are included on two sheets. The
main one contains most of the markings for the aircraft.
There is a complete set of stencils for one aircraft.
The other smaller sheet contains the personal markings and kill markings.

First up is a Bf-109E-3 that
will look great with your Airfix Bf-109E. The
selling point with this aircraft has to be the personal marking of Lt. Ernst
Terry of I/JG51. Lt. Terry had a
terrier chasing a sausage painted just below the cockpit.
The aircraft is painted in the typical RLM 65/02/71 of the time period.
The next aircraft is a
Bf-109F-4 from the ace, Horst Carganico, from JG5.
This aircraft is unique in that it has yellow upper and lower wing
surfaces with a three tone scheme on the wings and fuselage.
Lifelike suggests that the aircraft is painted in RLM 74/75/76.
I think it should be RLM 78/79 but that is the fun of dealing with
aircraft in black and white film. They
leave the determination up to you by providing the information for you to look
over.
The third aircraft is a
Bf-109F-2 is a heavily mottled aircraft with a unique upper spotted camouflage
scheme. The personal marking on the
side of the cockpit, “Waidmannsheil!” is interesting.
This is a very colorful aircraft and should be a lot of fun to build.
The final aircraft is from
Erich Hartmann. Previously thought
to be a G-14, Lifelike has it as a G-6 with the Erla Haube and tall tail. They postulate, and I think correctly, that the lower cowling
which isn’t visible had four chevrons and not three as previously printed by
various sources. This is a personal
favorite of mine and I’m sure I will add this to my collection soon.
Thouroughly researched, well
documented, expertly presented high quality decals and instructions.
These are some of the best on the market. If you like any of these aircraft like I do this sheet
represents a great value for the modeler. With
all the new 109s on the market these are a great way to add life to your models.
Highly recommended.
